Why I Don't Accept Insurance: 

For insurance to cover mental health services, you will be given a formal diagnosis on all billing documents sent to the insurance company from your therapist.  That diagnosis will become part of your permanent medical record, and may affect you.  Your diagnosis may be interpreted as you having a mental illness or being mentally ill. Possibilities exist such that having that label could affect you in unknown ways in the future.  We also know that many of those seeking services are not mentally ill; but a diagnosis must exist for insurance to cover services.  Because of the possibility of this information being used in ways that do not accurately reflect you or your mental health, I do not take insurance.  

 

I am happy to provide you with documentation of services that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement as an Out-of-Network provider. It is your responsibility to check with your insurance company to determine mental health benefits.
